Thanks for everyone’s comments and support on my last post. You guys made it more bearable!
It came out of left field. I thought it would be a stable job. We were pretty busy, and had a bunch of projects in the pipeline, with several new customers. Because of that, I thought I was secure. But basically, due to the company not meeting its targets this quarter, they had to reduce. Another coworker who started the same time as I did was also laid off. We were the newest ones on the team, which is probably why. Oh well. I feel bad for our manager who now has to pick up our work. Like I said, we were both pretty busy.
I had a 1-week business trip to see a customer in New Jersey planned for the end of February, which I was completely not looking forward to, so that was the only good thing – that I was laid off BEFORE the trip.
In a way, I am kind of glad. I was starting to get itchy feet again.
I have sent out a bunch of resumes, and am waiting to hear back. I am also taking advantage of my network, and have a few good leads so far. I think, though, I’m going to stick with contract jobs from here on out. I really don’t think I can commit long-term to any company.
In the meantime, I can indulge in my latest obsession: Fullmetal Alchemist. I leave you with my favorite song from the soundtrack. I’ve been listening it nonstop. And here is a picture of my favorite character. I know, I am pathetic.
